I am not looking forward to the process of learning how to use my new camera.

I might have to ask for help in setting up a framework of habits that will help me learn the functions of the camera.

This responsibility weighs on me heavily and I can feel a lot of focus headaches coming my way.

Today’s Topic: What Resources are You Wasting?

There are two types of resources. You have resources from the physical world and the resources of your mental space. To bridge the gap, you need to understand that they are wildly different, highly related, and none are mutually exclusive. The more we balance out the use (and respect of) the different types of resources, the happier we will be.

What is a resource? Many definitions are some variation of asset management, stockroom type items in a workplace or kitchen, something to be hoarded or coveted… I don’t agree with any of them.

For me, a resource is something you can earn and spend.

Some examples of resources I consider valuable with the definitions from a google search…

Time: The indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.

Energy: The strength and vitality required for sustained physical and mental activity.

Money: The current medium of exchange in the form of coins and banknotes; coins and banknotes, collectively

Supplies: a stock of a resource from which a person or place can be provided with the necessary amount of that resource

Attention: notice taken of someone or something; the regarding of someone or something as interesting or important

At any given time, we are expending one of these valued resources. Sometimes, we spend many simultaneously!

Considerations

-Which type of resource do you value more?
-Do you focus primarily on the things that you can exchange for something else, like money?
-Do you value primarily things that are mentally focused and come naturally, like energy?

Penny For Your Thoughts?

When you read over these provided definitions, do you agree? What would you change in meaning so it’s more true for you and would allow you to better communicate with your people?

Look through the last few days on conversations and let me know if you can find any misunderstandings because of different resource values or disagreements about the fundamental value of the resource.

Please share anything you think of that you could have done better or changed to avoid one of those instances. I am running the same thought processes over here and I’ll let you know what I come up with.
