This might be a bit much, but it’s entirely possible that we created a business plan yesterday. I mean with headings and dates AND we put them in chronological order.

Obviously, we have to clear this with our ROI guy (who is finding out about this development here) and I’m intrigued to see if we have any clue what the hell we’re talking about. It should be interesting.

Today’s Topic: Pivoting

This is my sixth post. In discussing things with my family, it’s become obvious that this format isn’t sustainable. We’re learning and changing things too rapidly for a single thought or topic to be relevant each day.

With each family discussion, three viewpoints are combined with my own- and magical things are happening. Beginning tomorrow, I’m going to change the daily post from what I’ve been doing to a quick prompt list of my daily card.

Pivoting, I realize, is going to happen constantly over the next few months as we learn and figure out our path. We have all kinds of ideas, but we have no idea what will be a hit or miss. With that in mind, I guess we’re just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.

Q4 Goals and Challenges

There are two components I know, trust, and am willing to test (just to be sure.)

Ali Abdaal says that nobody gives a crap that I’m posting to my site or to youtube. Here’s to hoping he’s right and we have some time to adjust our foolishness in public. Although, I am not holding my breath. I know better in my old age.

Roberto Blake issues a challenge to make 100 crappy videos. Challenge accepted. We’re fools all the time anyway… what’s going to happen? Someone will tell us we make crappy videos… well, duh. I completely understand and trust the fact that we have to MAKE the videos and ask for feedback to gain experience. Experience is the best teacher.

For disclosure’s sake, it helps tremendously that I’m not doing this alone. My family and I will be making the videos together and that’s an extreme advantage for me. This was much more difficult to confront when I was looking at doing it alone!

While I was seeking the link for the 100 crappy videos that I saw and resonated with so long ago, I stumbled up a video by Matti Haapoja with a redundant addendum to the directive. If you watched Roberto’s video, he makes it very clear the purpose of the exercise is to learn and improve by doing. But, this is epic direction for those that missed his point and bears pointing out and repeating… just in case! I certainly don’t always get the point the first time.

Considerations

– How often should we consider a pivot? No one wants to be willy nilly about it!
– Where do you consider pivots?
– Who can you ask for feedback before you adjust your direction?

Penny For Your Thoughts?

I’m wondering two things today.

1. What is your best tip for gaining the courage to pivot? What’s the biggest change you’ve made in the last two years and how did you handle your mindset?

2. The second question fell out of my damn head… to be continued. Sigh.
